[It's Christmas, and Christmas is always a time Rei has had mixed feelings about because she was so very often alone. No family aside from Grandpapa, and her friends were just as often busy. But...she was still able to see them and things. This year though, this year was different. They were away from home. And Rei had someone. Someone special. Which meant drastic measures.

Now, Rei wasn't about to tell anyone her plan. She simply dressed up in red and white pajamas and while Usagi and Minako were out having fun, she slipped into Minako's bedroom and sat down on the bed to read. She even thought to put on a Santa hat and a little bow on her chest, knowing it would excited the blonde.

And that's basically what Minako will find when she gets home and heads into her room. Rei seated on the bed, dressed up and reading a book. And there are even presents resting at the foot of the bed.

So...reaction?]

[Minako has had a very long, very happy day. It's spent sharing with friends, giving, and laughing...but her mind drifts back to her precious Mars from time to time. There's still a gift that she's kept safe at the bottom of her bag, waiting for the right moment...

She first checks Rei's room. No Rei. Then the yard. Was she tending to their pets? No. She checked the refrigerator for a note...again, nothing. Finally, she made her way to her room, and upon opening the door...]

Rei! There you are, I was about to call on a search!

[She could've just asked on the crystal, of course. That possibility is ignored in favor of balling her fists on her hips and trying to look outraged when she is in fact flustered with...amusement. It's difficult.]

[Rei beams at that response, closing up her book and tucking it away on a nightstand. Sitting up straighter, she smirks like a cat that's got cream and crooks a finger. The air around her brightens, a few daisies bursting to bloom on the floor. Come closer, said the spider to the fly...]

I figured I'd surprise you tonight. It's been so dreadfully cold lately, so I thought perhaps you'd like to sleep together sometimes.

[She means it perfectly innocently, just like the cabin. But she realizes after she's said it that Minako is Minako, and will probably...]

Just sleep, you know. Like on your birthday?

[admittedly that had been more than sleep but she hoped Minako would get the idea and not make it weird.]

[Minako gets the picture. She'd literally float over if she was any more excited, but the slightest trace of shyness keeps her grounded.]

Is that really okay? I don't want to put you out all the time.

Absolutely it's okay.

[She pats the bed, wriggling in place a bit.]

Please, come sit with me. No need to be shy, love.

All right, then...

[She claims the spot, slipping into it much like a satisfied cat would.]

I thought about planting myself under the tree, but...that would be indecent and uncomfortable. This is a much better idea.

If it was just us, that'd be a different story. But yes, this is much nicer.

[She leans over for a gentle kiss.]

[She kisses slowly, taking the time to savor it...though the occasional intrusive thought interrupts.]

I really should've grabbed a christmas cake for us. It'd be so much fun to eat strawberries. But it's not time for a midnight snack, hm?

[Those intrusive thoughts are alright, smoothed over by the expression of affection.

Though she perks up...]

You know...I wasn't going to let our first Christmas as a couple pass without observing all the traditions. Open the box at the end of the bed.

[Inside is a small Christmas cake, strawberries and all.]

[Minako bounces over to the end of the bed, wiggling playfully. Maybe she's still a show-off. Just a little.

She opens the box and sure enough, her gasp of delight fills the room.]

Oh, it's wonderful! Come here, come here, you have to have the first piece.

[She turns around with a hopeful smile, hand still absently hunting for a knife.]

[There's a knife inside the box, shrink wrapped and all.]

Alright, alright!

[Rei slides off the bed and pads over, bumping shoulders with the blonde.]

But you have to cut it!

Okay!

[She foregoes fancy knife work and serves two simple slices, passing one into Rei's hand first, then her own. She holds the slice for a moment, smiling down at it, then collects a small bite-sized portion on her fingertip. She smiles deviously.]

How hungry are you, darling?

[Rei blanches just a little at that smile. Oh dear. Oh...dear...]

Hungry enough. What about you?

[Let's try and turn this around before deviancy really begins.]

[She giggles.]

Oh...for a few things, not just cake! But this is a great start.

[She takes in Rei's expression, changes course, and deliberately pops that piece into her own mouth (how rude).]

Wow! Come on, try this...

[She nudges Rei's hands, willing her to eat the cake. It's so good.]

[WOW! Wow, how rude.

Rei laughs and takes some, lifting it with her fork up and popping it into her mouth.]

It is good. Better than I'd expected, too. The bakers here really know how to fill an order.

They sure do. But hey, Rei...

[She makes a sly attempt to slip her fingers around Rei's and claim the fork.]

Why not let me take care of that, hm?

Take...care of...?

[Rei blinked...]

You can have the fork. But not the whole cake.

Of course not, I'm all about sharing.

[She claimed the fork, twirled it inelegantly for a moment...then spun it back around at Rei, pointing a nice-sized bite at her mouth.]

See?

Thank you darling.

[Rei bent forward and slowly ate off the fork, deliberately savoring it, watching Minako's reaction.

When she was finished she pulled away and darted forward again, giving her a cake-y kiss on the cheek.]

Good choice, I think. Don't you?

[She giggled, enjoyed...then deliberately nuzzled her cheek against Rei's.]

An excellent choice.

[She then cut a very small piece for herself, balanced it on a finger, and slid it into her mouth, deliberately taking her time with it. Oh how she loved making eyes at Rei.]

[And really, Rei liked being made eyes at.

She does the same, cutting off a sliver of cake and nibbled slowly at it.]

So...I was thinking about this. Maybe you and I can...um...share a bed more often? Just because it's cold.

[Really? Minako can hardly believe her ears. She feels her heart thrum in her chest, and she instinctively scoots closer.]

Well, yeah, I like to think I'm pretty warm...

No better time than now to try, right?

Considering...

[Rei slips forward, rubbing Minako's shoulder with a free hand.]

It's Christmas? I can think of no better time. I'm your present, this year.
