hearted | a bird! a plane! a...dragon?

Minako is seriously cursing her luck right about now. She'd thought just one mission with the police in Transylvania would be all right. They'd caught a suspect, saved the children, and even battled some vampires. She was still a full-blooded human, thankfully, but that last ambush had left her a little worse for the wear. Even as Sailor Venus, her magic couldn't fend off the pain forever.

So in her weakened state, jt's far too easy for that pack of possessed wolves to jump her. She yelps, swinging her good leg and the heaviest branch in the forest with all her might, but those fangs snap angrily. She doesn't have much time to run, but she must, gritting her teeth through the pain. The branches tear at her and slow her down, but she's managed to stop all but three, escaping from the forest into the open meadow.

Now, though...there are three closing in on her. She faces them down, chain whip in hand, but it doesn't comfort her much. Even worse, there's an ominous thump behind her in the grass.

What could that giant shadow be?

Minako's nose twitched. Gosh, he tickled! She laughed, clear and bright, then happily allowed him to curl up with her. What an amazing chance! The foal was gentle this time, thankfully---she didn't want to faceplant again.

She curled further against her dragon companion, fully content. "Thanks, Skyfire. You're the best."

The foal put his head down in Minako's lap and snuggled close to her, liking the closeness and Skyfire had a goofy little grin on his face. Was this what it was like to have a family? Or at the very least, close friends? It had been a very long time since anyone had just... stayed with him. No demands, no alternative motives, no fear... It had really been a very long time indeed.

Skyfire moved his head to peer at the foal a bit better, and the little one tried to bury his nose into Minako's lap to 'hide'. The big thing was neat, but also kind of scary. Two leggers were scary too... but he liked this one.

Oh, how adorable! Minako watched him snuffle her skirt with a delighted grin. She really didn't want to scare him, but she couldn't resist very gently patting him on the back. How cute!

She reassured him with a soft hum. "Shh. It's okay. Sky's just curious, like you!"

The little foal snuffles at her skirt a bit more, then buts his nose against her stomach and leans into the petting. Clearly he was calming down a bit, and starting to enjoy the attention.

Skyfire nuzzles Minako's head a little, trying to prove to the little foal that he really was friendly.

"You're so sweet," Minako gushes, petting the silky mane. Oh, he was adorable!

She tilts her head to smile up at Skyfire. "I know you said unicorns aren't pets...but he really wants attention, doesn't he?"

He chuckles softly and watches as the foal snuggles up with Minako.

"They aren't... but they do have free will, and it looks like he's decided that you make a good snuggle buddy."

"Then I'd be happy to help out," Minako promised him, her joy practically bubbling over. With the invitation extended, she was very happy to snuggle.

"Maybe he'd like a name?"

Skyfire shook his head a bit and gestured towards the area a ways away where he could see a larger white nose peeking out and eyes watching them.

"I don't think his mother would appreciate that very much..." The foal is happy to nuzzle at Minako and lift his head to nuzzle and lip at her chin a bit, even as the older unicorn watches from the bushes.

Minako followed the gesture and smiled apologetically. Oh, yes. She would never want to upset a mama, so she giggles and enjoys a quick little lick from her new friend.

"Aww. Well it was very nice to meet you, hon. But I don't want to upset mama."

The foal stayed put for the moment, snuffling and nosing at her curiously... Then Skyfire froze as the mamma unicorn stepped out of the bushes and towards Minako and the foal. She doesn't seem mad, just curious...

Minako froze too...then let out a gentle sigh and nudged Skyfire. "It's all right, isn't it? Our little friend's safe. Mama can come get him. No one will get hurt!"

Right? Did unicorns have death magic she didn't know about?

"It's alright... She's just curious..." Unspoken is the nervousness the mother seems to exhibit. He makes eye contact with the mother and stays still until she bobs her head at him, once she does, he relaxes again. "I just don't want to scare anyone... It's better for me to be still until she decides what to make of me rather than spook her into charging."

Unicorns didn't have 'death magic' so to speak, but like any creature, they could defend themselves.

The mother approaches slowly, but seems to be less skittish as she snuffles at her foal and then moves to sniff at Minako too... that soft velvety nose rubbing at one of Minako's ears and cheek.

Minako keeps herself still, following Skyfire's lead to avoid startling the mother. She holds her breath as the unicorn draws close, keeping still for the inspection...but she can't entirely hide her smile and soft sigh. She's so sweet.

"See? It's okay," Minako whispered, barely audible. All was peaceful and bright.

Skyfire can't help but chuckle as the unicorn 'lips' at Minako's cheek, kind of like a slobbery kiss.

"Looks like you made another friend."

"This is happening a lot lately," she muses, happy to let the unicorn sniff her too.

"See? You're not as scary as you thought," she tells Skyfire simply, giving his tail a little hug.

He huffs softly and chooses not to comment on that for the moment, just quirks a brow at Minako.

Minako continues on her cheery little way, smiling up at him and silently willing the unicorns to get in on the act.

"C'mon. Smile? Who wouldn't be happy today?"

The corners of his mouth twitch a bit, but he doesn't smile... well... sort of... it's more of a small smirk. A big smile on him, well, it looked predatory and he didn't want to cause trouble.

Mamma unicorn on the other hand, was trying to 'groom' Minako while the baby had fallen asleep in her lap.

Minako understands and flashes a brilliant smile of her own at Skyfire...only to dissolve into a giggling mess when the mother starts. She does her best to keep quiet for the foal's sake, but still she whispers.

"First you, now her. Is my grooming really so terrible?" she teases, feigning a put-out look."

"... No comment..." Yes, he's actually teasing her a bit having finally started to relax a little.

Mamma unicorn has seemingly decided to 'adopt' Minako, and proceeds to lay down next to her. She alternates between grooming her foal and trying to do the same to Minako.
