Yeah...but just because we can't see gas doesn't mean something's very wrong. At least at a party like that, we'd be able to protect everyone.

[Rei may be blushing. The sense through the amulet is one of intense embarrassment, but also willingness.]

[Minako's end radiates pure happiness---she isn't really thinking this through, there's time to be embarrassed later.]

With the four of us and Helios, we'd be able to keep them all safe.

[Minako nodded resolutely.]

Minako, of course.  It’ll be nice, I promise.

[She can tell that this is what Minako really wants, and she doesn’t feel pressured even if she’s not entirely sure the blonde has thought through all the implications.  This is a big step for her, personally.  She’s not the type of person to cuddle and she’s always kept her own sleeping roll far from the girls on the nights they all stayed together.  Physicality is not her main thing.  But she’ll give it a try, and push down this barrier, because Minako means that much.]

I…[Her voice squeaks a little, going up an octave.]  I’m sure it’ll be fun.

[Minako's voice in response is gentle.]

[Rei sucks in a breath, bowing her head.]

I...I'm sure it will be. I just...you know.

[She's Rei.]

You're worried about something.

You can tell me, okay?

[Quietly:]

I've never...been close to anyone like that before, Minako. You know that. I'm nervous.

[Action]

[The nice thing about all living together was that she could get Rei and Minako together rather quickly. She knocked on Minako's door and then Rei's.]

Rei-chaaaan, Minako-chaaan! [She was smiling bright and wide, bubbles in the shape of hearts appearing around her head to match her glee.] Guess what guess what!

[Oh God save her from bubbles. Rei pokes her head out of her room, a little bleary, and hazards a guess.]

You found something?

[hearted]

[Minako follows a moment later, still loosely holding a hairbrush. She guesses too, trying to pull that tangle back in order.]

There's a mission?

Well, not found something per say, and technically yes, a mission. A birthday mission! I just rented the lake cabin and got the key this morning! Let's go check it out! It's a one bedroom with a mini-kitchen. The upstairs is the bedroom and master bathroom, the downstairs is the living area and the smaller bathroom and everything else. Come on come on! I want you both to see! I want to make sure you like it!

[faithfulflame]

[Rei sags against the door frame and sighs, all the tension flitting out of her, suddenly very tired.]

That's...certainly a mission.

[She looks to Minako, a little surprised. Usagi got up EARLY for this?]

Give me a few minutes. I need to dress for the weather.

the big day

[A lot of things have happened today. It's a birthday, of course, and Usagi is involved on some cursory level which means that there was a time to be had. But it's all ended now, as days often do, and thankfully Usagi had held up her promise to get everyone away. And while she was doing that, Rei had slipped off towards the cabin's upstairs, a few surprises in store. Minako obviously had a few obligations to take care of, goodbyes and all. Which gave Rei a moment to really get things in order.

The bed was laid out, and she had obtained a bottle of champagne, cups, and a few other things for them. She had flowers, she had her present all ready, and she also had managed to get the food for breakfast set aside to surprise Minako. All that remained was nerves. Getting those in order took some doing...and her voice shakes over the amulet.]

I-I'm ready, Minako. Everything seems to be in order upstairs. Whenever you're ready...come up. I'm waiting.

[hearted]

[Minako's interest is certainly piqued. She has an idea of what might be going on, but hesitant is usually one of the last words she would use to describe Rei. Minako's answer is quick, but a note of worry probably bleeds through.]

I'm on my way, Rei. I won't keep you waiting long.

[She takes the steps two at a time, arriving in the bedroom she'd marveled at earlier to find a very welcome sight. She immediately crosses the room, taking Rei's hand.]

All of this? Oh Rei. You know I love you no matter what you do, right?

[The awe on her face is clear as day despite her words.]

[Rei doesn't respond via amulet, she just waits, listening for the sounds coming up the stairs. She has a feeling Minako knows she's nervous, but it's not so much upset nervous as wanting everything to be perfect. When her partner appears, Rei forces herself to stay seated, but reaches up to take Minako's hand in kind.]

Minako, its your birthday. And the first one we're sharing as...we are now. I cannot, and will not, let that go unmarked. I want to make you happy, and I want to spoil you, too.

[Letting herself up, she slides her free hand around Minako's waist, and while it shakes a little, she leans closer.]

You deserve it.

[Waiting in front of Minako's door for her birthday is a bouquet of orange flowers and in a box with blue wrapping paper are several bracelets and earrings, but there are also fun cat earrings too with a birthday card attached. What is all this jewelry for? The much bigger wrapped gift, a dress.]

Eheh, me too! Just a second!

[She ducks back into her room, throws on a nice sweater and coat, and pulls that hair back into a loose ponytail. Not perfect, but she can fix it on the way. This would be so much easier with her old disguise compact.]

You didn't see any bears up there, did you?

[Minako at the very least knows how to respond to this. She answers Rei with a light kiss, fingers trailing delicately across her shoulders.]

You've already done both, Rei. It's beautiful. But I'm never one to say no to being spoiled...

[Her voice is full of gentle laughter.]

If it's with you, it can't be bad.

[Rei sucks in a breath as their lips meet, trying hard to keep her racing heart under control. Kissing is one thing, but they're going to be in the same bed. Maybe nothing will happen...maybe something will, she's not sure.

Once Minako pulls away, though, Rei closes her eyes and lets out a whimpering sigh.]

I hope not. I know you and I have committed, but I want to make sure you don't have second thoughts. I want to give you my everything.

[She doesn't do things half-heartedly, after all. Reaching back behind her, she pulls out the most relevant present.]

For you.

[It's a set of orange, silk pajamas, sized perfectly to Minako's proportions with just a little room to grow in case she stuffs herself to the gills one day. Because that has happened.]

[Minako traces her fingers over the fabric, a look of wonder in her expression.]

Ah...you take bedtime seriously. I love it. You have a matching set for yourself, right?

[Please?]
